What is Meta Tag Generator?

A meta tag generator is an SEO tool that creates the HTML meta tags needed in your webpage's <head> section to optimize how search engines and social media platforms understand and display your content. Properly configured meta tags are essential for search engine optimization (SEO), social media sharing, and improving click-through rates from search results.

Our free online meta tag generator creates all the essential meta tags including the page title, meta description, keywords, author information, Open Graph tags (for Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms), and Twitter Card tags. Simply fill in your page information and the tool generates properly formatted HTML that you can copy and paste directly into your webpage.

The tool includes character counters with recommended limits — 60 characters for titles and 160 characters for descriptions — helping you stay within the optimal lengths for search engine display. A live search preview shows you approximately how your page will appear in Google search results, allowing you to refine your title and description before publishing.

All meta tag generation happens locally in your browser. No data is stored or transmitted. Generate meta tags for as many pages as you need, completely free and with no limitations.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Enter your page title — Type the title of your page, keeping it under 60 characters for optimal search engine display.
  2. Write a meta description — Enter a compelling description of your page content, staying under 160 characters. This appears in search results beneath your title.
  3. Add keywords — Enter relevant keywords separated by commas. While less important for modern SEO, they can still be useful for internal site search.
  4. Fill in Open Graph details — Add your OG image URL, page URL, and content type to control how your page appears when shared on social media.
  5. Configure Twitter Card — Select the appropriate Twitter Card type for your content.
  6. Preview and copy — Review the search preview, then click Copy Meta Tags to copy the generated HTML to your clipboard.
