Ideal Weight Calculator
Find your ideal weight range using multiple scientific formulas. Robinson, Miller, Devine, and Hamwi methods.
What is Ideal Weight Calculator?
An ideal weight calculator estimates your healthy target weight based on your height and gender using established medical formulas. This calculator shows results from four widely-used formulas — Robinson, Miller, Devine, and Hamwi — giving you a range of ideal weights rather than a single number.
Each formula was developed by different researchers and may give slightly different results. By showing all four, you can get a better sense of what a healthy weight range looks like for your body. These formulas were originally designed for use in clinical settings for medication dosing and general health assessments.
Keep in mind that ideal weight varies depending on body composition, muscle mass, bone structure, and individual health factors. These formulas provide general guidelines and should not replace professional medical advice.
How to Use This Tool
- Select your gender — Male or Female (each formula uses different coefficients).
- Choose your unit system — Imperial (ft/in) or Metric (cm).
- Enter your height — Must be at least 5 feet (60 inches / 152.4 cm).
- Review results — Compare ideal weights from Robinson, Miller, Devine, and Hamwi formulas.
Formula
All formulas use height in inches over 60 (5 feet):
Robinson: Male = 52 + 1.9 × (in over 60) kg | Female = 49 + 1.7 × (in over 60) kg
Miller: Male = 56.2 + 1.41 × (in over 60) kg | Female = 53.1 + 1.36 × (in over 60) kg
Devine: Male = 50 + 2.3 × (in over 60) kg | Female = 45.5 + 2.3 × (in over 60) kg
Hamwi: Male = 48 + 2.7 × (in over 60) kg | Female = 45.5 + 2.2 × (in over 60) kg
